A lubricant can be in a liquid form like oil, water or some such substance, solid like powder, coating & composites – graphite, graphene, and molybdenum disulphide, gaseous such as air or even semisolid grease forms. Several key properties determine the efficacy of a lubricant. To boost the performance of the lubricants most of them contain additives. These properties must be stored and preserved properly to ensure their degree of effectiveness.

Similarly, solvent or water-based adhesives are available in liquid form like glue, solid-state such as cement, semi-solid form like paste. The applications of different adhesives are designed according to its usage as well as the area it will cover.  Thus the quality of adhesives needs to be maintained by protecting it from sunlight and heat.

Heat and sunlight weaken the inherent properties of adhesive. Exposures to hot temperature, oxygen, water, freezing and such can, over time, ruin the adhesive. This decreases its viscosity and its performance. Hence, it requires an additional barrier for packaging to preserve product integrity.
